World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Summer School on Intellectual Property

This two-week Summer School, offered jointly by the WIPO Academy, the Turkish Patent Institute and the Istanbul Bilgi University, provides an opportunity for senior students and young professionals to acquire deeper knowledge of intellectual property (IP), to gain an appreciation of IP as a tool for economic, social, cultural and technological development and to understand the role WIPO plays in the global administration of IP.

Curriculum
The program consists of lectures by experts in the field of IP as well as case studies and group discussions on selected IP topics.

A certificate of participation is awarded to those who successfully complete all requirements of the program.

Eligibility
The Summer School is open to 30 senior students (graduate and postgraduate) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline.
Pre-selected candidates will be required to successfully complete a special session of the Academy's distance learning General Course on Intellectual

Property Management. Dates for this session will be announced upon pre-selection.

Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Istanbul as well as accommodation and living expenses during their participation in the program.

Insurance and Medical Examination
Non-resident participants will be provided with insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in connection with the Summer School program.
Each participant will be required to present a medical certificate upon arrival.

Online registration for this Summer School is open from February 05 to March 30, 2013. Applicants should submit their resumé together with a letter of motivation(setting out their reasons for applying and what they hope to gain from the Summer School) to summerschool.turkey@wipo.int.

Selected applicants will be notified one week after the registration deadline.
