Health Insurance for International Students

Descriptive information about the announcement and premium payments regarding foreign students studying higher education in our university being covered by General Health İnsurance is as follows:

The foreign students shall meet their premium costs in oder to benefit from the General Health Insurance as a result of change realized in Article 34 of Law No. 6111 and subparagraph (g) of Article 60 of Social Security and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510. 

 “According to Higher Education Law dated 11/04/1981 and numbered 2547, foreign students receiving higher education in universities become general health insured provided that the general health insurance premium is paid by them at premium based on lower limit on the amount of income per day for 30 days as specified in article 82 without requiring conditions in sub-clause (d) of the first paragraph and second line of the second paragraph of Article 52 limited to the continuation of their higher education.

Foreign students arriving from countries with social security agreement with our country shall submit "right to health assistance certificate" from the insurance institution of their respective countries to benefit from general health insurance in Turkey and they shall send it to the provincial directorate of social security / social security center where they reside in Turkey and a copy to the university.

The codes of the "right to health assistance certificate" that needs to be submitted by the countries with social security agreement with our country and students from these countries are as follows.

Those who are out of citizenship by obtaining permission and those with dual citizenship according to Article 28 of Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901

Those out of Turkish citizenship with permission and those who have Turkish citizenship along with citizenship pf another country (dual citizenship) according to article 28 of Law No. 5901 and who study higher education at universities in foreign student status in accordance with Haigher Education Law No. 2547 do not need to notice the SSI in the event that they are insured upon their work or are considered as dependent persons on their father or mother. However, a person registrations will be held in the absence of the General Health Insurance.

The registration and activation process of the general health insurance of our foreign students receiving higher education at our University is made at SSI as of 2011-2012 academic year.

The GHI premium amount that is %12 of the income lower limit based on monthly premium that will be poaid in advance at once for the academic year the students are obliged to pay and the SSI abd its address for payments to be made are given below:    

Monthly amount of 35,46 TL 26.01.2012-30.06.2012

Monthly amount of 37,62 TL between the dates 01.07.2012-31.12.2012

Note: The registration of students without foreign identity number could not be made. In such case, the students must get their permit of residence, get their foreign identity number with the number stated on their permit of residence from the Foreign Identity Number Search option with their Date of Birth and Permit No. by visiting www.nvi.gov.tr or the foreign nationality identity number to be obtained from the Civil Registry and to inform the Student Affairs immediately, otherwise the responsibility arising from non-payment of premium will belong to them.
