BİLGİ Electrical and Electronics Engineering students presented their projects at the IEEE 11th International Conference on Virtual Reality
Students from İstanbul Bilgi University’s Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering successfully represented the university with their virtual reality projects at the IEEE 11th International Conference on Virtual Reality (ICVR 2025) held in Wageningen, Netherlands, from July 9–11, 2025.
Graduate student Mert Mengilli and recent graduate Kaan Demirtaş presented their project titled “A Journey into Ancient Pergamon: A Virtual Experience with AI Integration” in person at the conference. The project offered an AI-enhanced virtual reconstruction of the ancient city of Pergamon and attracted significant interest from participants.
Another project, titled “Reviving Ancient Ephesus: An AI-Powered Virtual Realm,” developed by senior students Arda Yurt, Can Mert Piker, Eray Gündüz, and Ayberk Görmüş, was also presented at the same event.
Both projects allowed attendees to virtually travel back in time and experience Ephesus and Pergamon—two of the most magnificent cities of antiquity—as they appeared in their prime during the 2nd and 3rd centuries. Our students had the opportunity to share their expertise in virtual reality with distinguished academics and professionals from around the world.
In their presentations, the students discussed the development processes of their projects and emphasized the border-transcending impact of digital practices and the importance of international collaboration in the field. Both projects were realised under the supervision of Professor Ahmet Denker.
