Our student Beyza Güneş’s project ‘The Impact of the Relationship between Financial Development and Income Inequality in Türkiye on Different Income Groups’ received TÜBİTAK grant
BİLGİ Department of Banking and Finance graduate and Department of Law double major student Beyza Güneş's project ‘The Impact of the Relationship between Financial Development and Income Inequality in Türkiye on Different Income Groups’, which will be carried out under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Sema Bayraktar Tür, was entitled to be supported within the scope of 2209-A Research Project Support Programme for Undergraduate Students conducted by TÜBİTAK Science Fellowships and Grant Programme Directorate (BİDEB).
In the project, the relationship between financial development and income inequality will be analyzed in different layers by using institutional quality and democracy indices for Türkiye. At the same time, in addition to the Gini coefficient, the project will also include the shares of lower, middle, and upper income groups from national income as dependent variables in the analysis and investigate the effects of financial development on different income groups. In line with the results obtained from the project, it is aimed to propose solutions to institutions and policy makers and to have an impact with these solution proposals.
