TÜBİTAK Support for the project titled ‘Distant Neighbors: Exploring Political Narratives and Visual Culture in Turkish-German Relations’

The project titled ‘Distant Neighbors: Exploring Political Narratives and Visual Culture in Turkish-German Relations’ to which expert researcher Deniz Güneş Yardımcı and Research Assistant Mustafa Gökcan Kösen have been entitled to receive a support with a budget of 350,000 TL within the scope of the Bilateral Cooperation Program between TÜBİTAK 2531 and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The project aims to explore the development of Turkish-German relations through a detailed empirical analysis of competing and/or shared political narratives in the German and Turkish context and to show how the contemporary perception of befriended but ‘distant neighbors’ has taken shape in these relations. Prof. Frank Gadinger from Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen will serve as the project coordinator for Germany as part of this bilateral cooperation project.
