The project of Faculty Member, PhD, Sibel Halfon has been entitled to receive support within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2519-COST Working Group

The project of Faculty Member, PhD, Sibel Halfon from the Department of Psychology and Clinical Psychology Master Program at Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities titled ‘The Effectiveness and Change Mechanisms of Mentalization-Based Therapy for Children (MBT-C)’ has been entitled to receive support with a budget of 792,900 TL for 36 months within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2519-COST Working Group Support Program.

As part of the project, the effectiveness and change mechanisms of mentalization-based therapy for children in a randomized controlled study will be investigated for the first time in the world. A transdiagnostic psychotherapy developed for problems such as anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems experienced by school-age children, this treatment has the potential to simultaneously strenghten attachment security, effective intrafamilial communication, capacity for emotional regulation, and psychological resilience.

Within the project, the protective effects of Mentalization-Based Therapy for Children on the psychological problems experienced by children will be identified. In this way, the psychotherapy interventions that are applied to children can be improved and popularized with evidence-based data.

In the project, Faculty Member, PhD, Tuğba Dalyan from Department of Computer Engineering at BİLGİ Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Harma from Faculty of Administrative and Social Sciences at Kadir Has University, Prof. Albert Ali Salah from Department of Information and Computer Sciences at Utrecht University will work as researchers and Prof. Nick Midgley from Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families will work as advisor.
