Award for BİLGİ Department of Film at the 58th Edition of International Antalya Golden Orange Festival
Prof. Feride Çiçekoğlu, faculty member at BİLGİ Department of Film, was entitled to receive Cahide Sonku Award in the 58th Edition of International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. The award, which has been given since 2019 in order to draw attention to ‘women’s labor in cinema sector,’ was presented to Çiçekoğlu by the actor Şerif Sezer.
In her speech, Çiçekoğlu stated that she returned to her academic career, which was disrupted with the coup d’etat of September 12, 1980, thanks to ‘Don’t Let Them Shoot the Kite’, which received awards in five categories including the best original screenplay at the 26th Edition of Golden Orange Film Festival. Çiçekoğlu stated that she raised many students both in architecture and cinema in her 45-year career and that she was proud to see them at the Golden Orange Film Festival.
The film ‘Between Two Dawns’, which was directed by Selman Nacar and produced by Burak Çevik, both of whom were BİLGİ Department of Film alumni, received the Jury’s Special Award. For their roles in the film, Nezaket Erden received the Best Supporting Actress Award and Mücahit Koçak received the Best Actor Award. The film also earned a prize to the cast director Ezgi Baltaş who shared Cahide Sonku Award with Feride Çiçekoğlu.
With her part in ‘Zuhal’ directed by Nazlı Elif Durlu who teaches courses on directing at BİLGİ Department of Film, Nihal Yalçın received the Best Actress Award.
