Why BİLGİ?

Adopting the principle of 'Non scholae, sed vitae discimus' (Learning not for school, but for life), İstanbul Bilgi University took its place within the Turkish system of higher education as a civil corporation after the application made by the Bilgi Education and Culture Foundation on 7 June 1996 and the subsequent approval by the Turkish Grand National Assembly according to Law number 4142.

Over time İstanbul Bilgi University has grown to encompass 3 main campuses that total 210.000 m² and it is on these four campuses (Kuştepe, Dolapdere and santralistanbul) that it continues to serve its students and the academic world in Turkey.

The university currently has more than 20,000 students and near 50,000 alumni, over 1,000 academicians; 7 faculties, 3 institutes, 4 schools, 3 vocational schools, and 150+ programs that provide education to its associate, undergraduate and graduate students.

Having broken many new grounds since its foundation, BİLGİ, both on institutional and program level, has been awarded with the quality and accreditation awards by the globally reputable institutions.

QS Stars

BİLGİ was awarded 5 Stars by QS Stars, one of the world’s most respected higher education rating systems. By receiving 5 Stars in the fields of teaching, internationalisation, online education, employability of its graduates, programme strength, and inclusiveness, BİLGİ’s success in these fields has been recognized internationally. With this success, BİLGİ has become the only university in Türkiye that has been recognized with 5 Stars by QS Stars.

CEA (Commission on English Language Program Accreditation)

Following the five-year initial accreditation granted by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) in 2015, İstanbul Bilgi University English Preparatory Program is reaccreditated by CEA for the period August 2021 through August 2031 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. For further information about this accreditation, please contact CEA, 1001 N. Association of Turkish Psychologists (TPD)

The psychology undergraduate program at İstanbul Bilgi University was accredited by the Association of Turkish Psychologists (TPD) until June 19, 2028.

International Family Therapy Association (IFTA)

The Couples and Family Therapy track within the İstanbul Bilgi University Clinical Psychology Graduate Program had become the first program in Turkey to be accredited by the International Systemic Therapy Training Accreditation Committee of the International Family Therapy Association (IFTA).

MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs)

The Bachelor's programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Genetics and Bioengineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering at İstanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences have been accredited by MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs). MÜDEK is an institution authorized by the Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) to grant accreditation.

Turkey Qualifications Framework (TQF)

The Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, and Genetic and Bioengineering programs at İstanbul Bilgi University’s Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences are included in the Turkey Qualifications Framework (TQF). TQF is a national qualifications framework that defines the qualifications gained through vocational, general, and academic education programs, as well as other learning pathways. The TQF is designed to align with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and is referenced to the EQF.

FEDEK

BİLGİ History has been accredited by the leading accreditation association FEDEK-Science, Literature, Faculty of Science and Letters, History and Geography Curriculum Programs Assessment and Accreditation Association.

Carrying out accreditation, evaluation and notification studies for Science, Literature, Science-Literature, Faculties of Language, History and Geography (will be called as Faculty of Science and Letters (FSL)) which are in different disciplines FEDEK will contribute to the increase the quality of higher education in Turkey.

In FEDEK accreditation, programs are assessed according to such criteria as the success of the students registered in the program, program curriculum purposes, program outputs, curriculum plan, academic staff, management structure and program infrastructure.

ISO 27001 Information Security Management System Certification

BİLGİ has been entitled to receive ISO 27001 Information Security Management System Certification, which is valid across the world, and its competence in information security has been approved on an international level. With Information Security Management System (ISMS) that was built by designing new processes, trainings, and procedures to increase information security, BİLGİ aims to minimize the security breaches regarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

Turquality Program

BİLGİ has been taken into the scope of Turquality program carried out by the Ministry of Commerce and aiming to support the Turkish brands that can become global brands.The world’s first and only state-funded branding program in the world, Turquality provides funds to brands in accordance with their global goals, and also offers strategical, operational, organizational, and technological counselling for the development of brands, and provides educational support for administrative units.
