Advances in Economics: A PhD-Level Training Workshop
Date: August 26-29, 2015
Place: santralistanbul Campus
The International Iranian Economic Association (IIEA), in collaboration with İstanbul Bilgi University, has organized a four-day workshop for young economics scholars from Iran and Turkey to help raise their familiarity with recent advances in micro- and macro-economic theories, econometrics, and the application of those methods to Iran and Turkey. The workshop will be held at İstanbul Bilgi University on August 26-29, 2015, and will consist of four short courses taught in by leading economists. All workshop activities will be conducted in English. Advanced PhD students and recent PhD graduates in economics are eligible to apply. The participants will be selected among the applicants by a committee of established economists on a competitive basis. IIEA anticipates to admit approximately 15 Iranian scholars (10 from Iranian universities and 5 from outside the country) plus 10 Turkish scholars. The workshop will cover the travel and lodging expenses of the Iranian participants for the duration of the workshop.
Each course of the workshop will consist of 4 hours of lecture/instruction by invited lecturers, followed by an assignment session and a discussion session led by a team of IIEA economists. The invited lecturers will provide the idea for the assignment and may participate in the discussion session depending on their availability.
