Free Markets and Private Property: The Road to Social Justice?

Free-market anarchist philosopher Roderick Long (Auburn University) will discuss free markets and private property in relation to social justice. A self-described 'bleeding-heart libertarian', Long is inspired not only by libertarian thinkers such as Rothbard and Mises but also Aristotle and Wittgenstein. Presenting issues such a as worker exploitation, plutocratic privilege, racism, homophobia, gender inequality, militarism, environmental degradation, and the prison-industrial complex as "social evils", he will explain how free markets and private may provide an antidote. The seminar will also feature a critique of Marxist ideology as well as the common conception "capitalism".

This seminar is organized by İstanbul Bilgi University Department of International Relations.
