GLOBAL TRANSFORMATIONS: ASU-BİLGİ Talk Series
The Role of Critical Minerals in Clean Energy Transitions
Date: May 13, 2022 – Friday Time: 19:00 (Turkey Time) / 09:00 (Arizona Time) Online
Speaker:
Dr. Datu Buyung Agusdinata
School of Sustainability, College of Global Futures in Arizona State University
Senior Global Futures Scientist, Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory
(Datu) Buyung Agusdinata received a B.S. degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia, a MS degree in Aerospace Industrial Engineering and a PhD degree in Systems Engineering and Policy Analysis, both from the Delft University of Technology. His previous assignment was an associate research scientist at Purdue University before joining the Northern Illinois University as a faculty member. His main research interests include sustainable energy and transportation systems, green supply chain, system analysis of the development and impacts of nanomedicine, and drought adaptation policies. He has co-authored a book chapter on consequential life cycle assessment and published articles in various journals. Dr. Agusdinata was the recipient of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Fellowship. He was a PI on a SESYNC-funded project to support decision making on adaptation policies to dealing with drought. As a guest faculty researcher at the Argonne National Laboratory, he investigated the added values of improved forecast of electricity generation from solar to support a better integration of solar energy to the electricity market. Recently, he serves as a co-PI on an NSF-funded workshop to identify climate change mitigation strategies based on improved understanding and management of coupled food, energy and water (FEW) production-consumption systems.
