Technology Transfer Office

BİLGİ Technology Transfer Office (TTO) was established in 2021, and reports to the Rectorate, with the goals of increasing scientific research within the university, fostering university-industry collaboration, promoting student and academic entrepreneurship, and commercializing intellectual property rights. The office supports the transformation of scientific knowledge and technologies produced within the university into value-added products and services, ensuring their dissemination to society and creating social impact.

Technology Transfer Office Services

Awareness and Information

  • Initiates and develops relationships between the university and stakeholder institutions in the field of technology transfer.
  • Organizes various events, seminars, and training programs to raise awareness, enhance information sharing, and foster collaboration opportunities within the university and with stakeholder institutions.

Internal and External Project Support Programs

  • Provides information, matchmaking, and project development services to ensure the effective utilization of various grant support programs by the university and stakeholder institutions.
  • Offers support to researchers for national and international calls, including project applications, project management, and contract processes.
  • Manages the secretariat services of the Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Commission, coordinating the application, evaluation, approval, monitoring, and completion processes of project proposals.
  • Conducts training sessions on grant programs and project writing.

University–Industry Collaborations

  • Facilitates meetings with companies' R&D units to match their needs with relevant university faculty members and establish R&D consultancy collaborations.
  • Encourages the development and dissemination of R&D projects, prioritizing company-financed projects, while promoting the use of TÜBİTAK TEYDEB, European Commission, and other external funding sources in partnership with faculty members.

Intellectual Property

  • Conducts projects and activities related to intellectual and industrial property in accordance with the İstanbul Bilgi University Employee Inventions Notification Directive.
  • Coordinates patent and utility model application and registration processes.
  • Carries out activities to support the commercialization of intellectual property rights belonging to the university’s academic staff and students.
