The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Awards

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) grants awards in five categories, namely Science Award, Special Award, Service Award, Encouragement Award and Polar Researches Awards. TÜBİTAK also grants “Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Encouragement Award”, which is accepted as the equivalent of TÜBİTAK’s Encouragement Award.

Science Award: It is granted to alive scientists who have made significant contributions to the science in international level with their studies in Turkey.

Special Award: As an equivalent to Science Award, it is granted to alive, Turkish citizen scientists who have made significant contributions to the science in international level with their studies abroad.

Service Award: It is granted to individuals who gave outstanding service for the development of science and technology in Turkey. Scientists who are not alive can be nominated to Service Award.

Encouragement Award: It is granted to alive scientists who are resident in Turkey and younger than 40 at the first day of the year when the award is given, proved that they could make significant future contributions to the science in international level with their studies.

Polar Research Award: As an equivalent to Encouragement Award, it is granted to young researchers and scientists who have made significant contributions to the science in the field of Polar research. It is granted to alive scientists who are resident in Turkey and younger than 40 at the first day of the year when the award is given.

TÜBİTAK Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Encouragement Award: It is alternately granted every year in the field of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. It is granted to young scientists who have the qualifications to make significant future contributions to the science in international level.
