TÜBİTAK 2515-COST Support for the “Impact of Digital Media on Affective Polarization” Project Led by Prof. Emre Erdoğan

The project titled “Redressing Radical Polarisation: Strengthening European Civil Spheres facing Illiberal Digital Media” led by Prof. Emre Erdoğan, our faculty member in the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of our University, has been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 2515 – COST European Cooperation in Science and Technology Program.

Assoc. Prof.  Mehmet Fatih Çömlekçi from Kırklareli University, Dr. Dilale Dönmez from Özyeğin University, Prof. Pınar Uyan Semerci and Asst. Prof. Tuğçe Erçetin Sabuncu from our Department of International Relations, and Assoc. Prof. Tuğba Dalyan from our Department of Computer Engineering are participating in the project as researchers. The project will comprehensively examine the mechanisms that contribute to affective polarization within Türkiye’s digital media ecosystem through multimodal and computational methods. Based on the findings, evidence-based intervention models aimed at reducing polarization, along with a comprehensive Depolarization Intervention Map, will be developed.
