“Coastline Atlas: Water, Data, and Commons”
We are thrilled to announce that Gökçen Erkılıç will be our guest with her talk “Tracing Territories: A Cartographic Timeline of Northern Istanbul” in the 120th episode of Mekan Konuşmaları, hosted by the students of the Graduate Programs in Architecture at BİLGİ.
The talk will focus on Coastliner Lab’s works and mappings, with a particular focus on the Coastline Atlas project situated in Istanbul.
Gokcen Erkılıç is a data artist, architect, urbanist, educator, and founder of Coastliner Lab (CLLab)—a transdisciplinary research and design initiative exploring aquatic intelligence, hydro-commons, and collective sensing practices in watery systems. She is teaching at Northeastern University, College of Arts, Media and Design, and is affiliated with metaLAB (at) Harvard University. Her works have been published, exhibited, and performed at Ocean Archive, Sharjah Biennial, Arts Letters & Numbers, Materia Arquitectura, Dirty Drawings, Salt Research, Arter, YapıKredi Culture and Arts, Pera Museum, Manifold Press, Venice Architecture Biennale.
The talk will be in English and open to everyone.
