Dr. Aküzüm served as the head of the "Accounting and Tax Practices" department at Bilgi University VS, assumed the head of the "Banking, Finance and Insurance" department at the same university, and also contributed to the department of business administration. His academic journey extended to Gedik University, where his roles included Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Director of the VS of Justice, Advisor to the Rector, and Head of the Department of Constitutional Law. He also worked as a faculty member at Yeditepe University.
Aküzüm dedicated 11 years to his role as a member of the board of trustees and board of directors of Bilgi University's foundation trust. He was also a member of the Advisory Board of Bilgi University's Faculty of Law and he held the position of Vice Chairman of the Editorial Board of Bilgi University Publications. Additionally, he held positions on the board of directors of CEFIS (Center for Financial Application and Research) and YÜÇAM (Center for Higher Education Studies).
Aküzüm is a member of ICCA (International Council for Commercial Arbitration), IBA (International Bar Association), SIAC (Singapore International Arbitration Center), and the Istanbul Bar Association Arbitration Center. His contributions extend to his role as Vice President of the Istanbul Arbitration Association, which is the sister organization of Istanbul Arbitration Center (ISTAC), with the aim of promoting arbitration practices in Turkey.
Aküzüm has taken on various responsibilities in numerous civil society and business organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors of Galatasaray Sports Club and its subsidiaries for a 12-year period.
Aküzüm has published 6 books, numerous academic articles, book chapters, and has presented papers at national and international academic symposiums.
