Structure of the Program
The MA in Media and Communication Systems is a two-year program designed to offer an in-depth education in the field of media. In the first two semesters of the program, students take a total of four core courses. The core courses MED 501 and MED 502 aim to introduce students to basic media theories. The core seminar courses MED 505 and MED 506 aim to provide students with the academic writing and research skills necessary for graduate education. In addition to the core courses, students can take two (fall) or three (spring) elective courses.
Students who successfully complete their core courses are eligible to proceed to the thesis phase. During the two semesters following the end of the courses, students prepare and defend their master's thesis by taking thesis courses.
The courses of the program are held on weekdays between 15:00-18:00 and 19:00-22:00. The medium of instruction in the Media and Communication Systems Master's Program is English. Therefore, students are obliged to write their thesis in English.
The program provides a solid academic foundation for candidates who wish to pursue a PhD in the field of media.
