Department of English Language Teacher Education*

Department of English Language Teacher Education is a rapidly-growing four year undergraduate program that was founded within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at İstanbul Bilgi University. Its first students graduated with their BA degrees in 2013. Throughout their education at BİLGİ, the students develop their professional skills in the area of language teaching while they improve themselves in a variety of areas through elective courses offered by other departments. The majority of our students have the opportunity to travel to English-speaking countries through various student exchange programs to improve their language skills and become acquainted with other cultures. As a part of their professional training, they can attend classes in the English Preparatory Program as observers or intern teachers, and can also work as peer assistants in programs such as the Writing Center, helping university students develop their foreign language skills.
