Program Structure

The main objective of the program is to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the financial sector by cultivating students with necessary theoretical/ practical knowledge and skills. For that purpose both it develops close contact with the sector to be able to follow its needs and it aims to develop its own innovative and analytical solutions to recurrent problems of the sector. The program also endeavors to instill in students a commitment to ethical values and social responsibility.

The program provides academic foundation and practical training for persons who are planning to work in banking and financial services sector. It also targets financial institution professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge to advance in their career. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in corporate finance, financial consulting, commercial or investment banking, insurance, risk management, derivatives markets and related areas.

Banking and Finance program is a four (4) years program. To graduate, a student must successfully complete a minimum of 240 credits distributed approximately equally over the four years period. Language of instruction of the program is English. In addition to the academic work of our qualified staff, the participation of experienced managers from the business world to the lectures also enables the delivery of the current banking and financial issues to students. Academic education is supported by methods encouraging effective participation of students through case analysis, computer workshops, web-based guided studies, guided independent works and internships in financial institutions.

To prepare and cultivate students in all fields of banking and finance to manage the various organizations on a scientific basis,
To serve the finance community by updating requirements of the program to respond to the demands of the sector,
To serve the community through spreading financial awareness, and offering training programs and consulting services,
To undertake scientific research in the different disciplines of banking and finance -To develop innovative, analytical and ethical solutions to recurrent problems of banking and finance sector.

Program Learning Outcomes:

To have comprehensive detailed knowledge and understanding of the functioning of banks and financial markets.
To demonstrate awareness and capability of analysis of environmental (economic, social, political, legal, and ethical) trends and their impact on financial services sector.
To be able to use manual and computer-based quantitative and qualitative tools and methodologies in identifying and solving problems and making decisions in financial situations.
Awareness of personal responsibility and professional codes of conduct.
Critically evaluate situations through the use of reliable and relevant research evidence to assist in the solution of financial problems.
Recognize and deal with complex financial and market related issues using appropriate analytical tools and techniques.
Communicate complex ideas and arguments clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences through speaking, writing, and by use of electronic media.
To build and work effectively within a team, proactively leading it and managing conflicts where necessary.

CFA Institute University Affiliation Program:

Banking and Finance Program is a participant in the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute University Affiliation Program.

Banking and Finance Program has been officially named a CFA Program Partner®. As such, the Program has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program.

As being an affiliated university to the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program, Banking and Finance curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, the program is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Exams each year.
