Continuous Professional Development Options

These options are determined at the beginning of each academic year based on instructors' needs during meetings held by the Preparatory Program Coordinator and TDC members.


Research Project / Language Teaching Projects

Conducting a research project or English teaching project aims to:

  • Establish a culture of scientific research in the field of English teaching.
  • Contribute to classroom instruction and find solutions to issues identified in real classroom environments.
  • Encourage instructors to develop their research skills.
  • Motivate researchers to share their findings with colleagues.


Senior Instructors Lesson Observation

The objectives of the senior instructor classroom observation program are to:

  • Provide opportunities to prepare and deliver lessons that reflect Bilgi education philosophy using effective teaching methods.
  • Create a collaborative environment that benefits both new instructors observing lessons and senior instructors.
  • Offer instructors a chance to review their practices through self-assessment, enhancing their teaching skills and knowledge.


Buddy Support System

The objectives of the new instructor mentor support system are to:

  • Provide senior mentor instructors with opportunities to strengthen the institutional culture by sharing the institutional values and educational philosophy with new instructors.
  • Enable mentors to share their experiences and expertise with new instructors by means of developing communication, guidance, leadership, and problem-solving skills.


Video Observation

The objectives of video self-assessment are to:

  • Allow instructors to evaluate themselves from an external perspective, increasing awareness of their strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Support their professional development by helping them take specific steps toward their developmental goals.
  • Gather data on classroom interactions, helping instructors gain more insights into what happens during their lessons.


Peer Observation

The objectives of peer classroom observation are to:

  • Create a developmental process where instructors support each other in improving their teaching practices within a safe and confidential environment.
  • Facilitate collaboration by promoting idea-sharing and planning for further enhancement of teaching techniques through deep reflection on teaching and learning.


CELTA / DELTA / MA / PhD Programs

The objectives of CELTA, DELTA, MA, and PhD programs are to:

  • Support instructors' career development by providing internationally recognized certifications and academic qualifications.
  • Enhance trainers' pedagogical knowledge and skills to make their teaching practices more effective.
  • Provide opportunities for continuous updates on the latest developments in education, allowing instructors to regularly refresh their teaching techniques and methodologies.


Conducting Presentations / Workshops

The objectives of this activity are to:

  • Foster a collaborative learning environment that enhances experience and knowledge sharing among instructors.
  • Enable instructors to keep up with current trends in English language teaching (methods, approaches, techniques, etc.).
  • Help instructors improve their presentation skills and inspire their peers by sharing their experiences and knowledge.


Building a Personal Learning Network

The objectives of this activity are to:

  • Provide resources for colleagues through instructors’ blogs, websites, etc., where they share knowledge, experiences, lesson materials, and teaching strategies.
  • Create opportunities for instructors to build their personal learning networks to keep up with the latest developments and trends in English language teaching.
  • Ensure instructors remain up-to-date by making their learning and development processes continuous.


Conference Organization

The objectives of this activity are to:

  • Encourage members of the organizing committee to take on various roles before, during, and after events or the BİLGİ English Teaching Conferences.
  • Equip participants with planning, management, and coordination skills during the conference organization process.
  • Provide opportunities to stay updated on the latest developments and trends in English language teaching.
  • Support educators in creating collaboration opportunities by connecting with each other.


Attending Mini Workshops

The objectives of this activity are to:

  • Ensure instructors gain knowledge about innovative strategies and tools to enhance their professional skills.
  • Provide opportunities for instructors to review their teaching practices by receiving feedback from other participants and trainers during practical activities.
  • Encourage participants to share their experiences and strategies, facilitating peer learning, and providing opportunities to evaluate and improve their methods by observing others.


Learning a New Foreign Language

The objectives of this activity are to:

  • Update and enrich their approaches to language teaching through the awareness gained while learning a new language.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the challenges that students face by experiencing language learning firsthand.
  • Enhance teaching skills by observing the structure and methodologies of teaching another language.


Team Teaching

The objectives of team teaching are to:

  • Enable two instructors to collaboratively plan lessons, fostering creative solutions and diverse teaching techniques.
  • Help instructors gain an external perspective on their teaching practices through peer support and increase their professional awareness.
  • Offer students a multifaceted learning experience by combining two different teaching styles in the same lesson.
  • Strengthen professional cooperation by promoting the sharing of knowledge and experiences among instructors.


Attending Conferences and Webinars

The objectives of this activity are to:

  • Provide opportunities to improve teaching practice by staying informed about current research and developments.
  • Create opportunities for instructors to review their areas of development and set goals based on insights gained from conferences and seminars.
  • Increase opportunities for experience sharing and collaboration by connecting with professionals in the same field.
