Teacher Trainers
SABRİ AĞIRMAN
Sabri Ağırman got his BA Degree (1992) and MA Degree (1996) in English Language from Anadolu University and worked as a research assistant and language teaching instructor at the same institution until 1999. Then, he started to work at Bilgi University English Preparatory School as a language instructor in 1999. In 2001 he got a teacher trainer certificate after completing the Teacher Training Program organized by Bilgi University in collaboration with Bilkent University. He has worked as a teacher trainer at Bilgi instructor Development Center since then. During his professional career as a teacher trainer, he was involved in accreditation processes as a committee member (EQUALS in 2005, CEA in 2015, WASC in 2021). Currently, Sabri Ağırman is a teacher trainer at English Language Preparatory School Teacher Development Center and ‘Academic Professional Development Expert’ (Bilgi Institutional Development and Quality Coordination Office).
HÜMA TAŞ
Hüma Taş graduated from Gazi University with a degree in English Language Teaching in 2005 and holds an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Sakarya University. She earned a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Toronto. She completed the Cambridge Train the Trainer course, and also received a certificate in Leading for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Higher Education from the University of Michigan upon completion of the online program. With 16 years of experience in the field of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Hüma Taş has been working in the English Language Programs Preparatory School at İstanbul Bilgi University since 2014. Alongside her role there, she also taught for three years in the Department of English Language Teaching. Currently, she continues to work as an instructor and teacher trainer in the Preparatory School. Her professional interests focus on social responsibility, as well as teacher education and development.
EVA BÜYÜKSİMKEŞYAN
Eva Buyuksimkesyan graduated from Marmara University, English Language Teaching Department in 1989. After her graduation, she attended several professional development courses to improve her teaching skills at the British Council. She also attended BritishSide Train the Trainer course and Sabancı University teacher trainer Program (SLTEP). She served as a moderator at the Story Sharing Web Conference organized by the British Council Turkey in 2013, as well as in various webinars. In 2015, she moderated the Teaching English Facebook page for British Council Turkey. From 2015 to 2019, she conducted workshops for in-service training in several primary,secondary, and high schools. Currently she is working as an instructor and a teacher trainer at Bilgi University. She has been blogging at evasimkesyan.com since 2009. She is interested in creative writing and integrating technology to teaching English.
BÜŞRA TAN YİĞİT Büşra Tan Yiğit graduated from Middle East Technical University’s English Language Teaching department in 2007 and earned the Cambridge CELTA certification in 2010. She completed her master’s degree in English Language Education at Necmettin Erbakan University, focusing on the professional development of English teachers. In 2015, she advanced her expertise through the School Leadership and Trainer Education Program (SLTEP) at Sabancı University. Since joining Bilgi University in 2013, she has taught courses at various levels and has taken on the role of teacher trainer. Her professional interests include the professional development of language teachers, bilingual education, AI integration in language learning, digital literacy, and fostering 21st-century skills. She is also dedicated to promoting social-emotional learning and supporting teacher well-being to prevent burnout.
